Vision, Values und Faith

Our Vision

Our vision is building a growing church that loves God and is united in friendship, as a foundation for discipleship, evangelization and church-planting in Germany and the nations.

In a few words: We want to encounter God, love people and strengthen churches.

Our Values

Jesus Christ is the center point
Jesus is essential. He is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through him.

The Bible is our standard
The Bible is the word of God given to us. We do not want to take away from the Bible or add to it.

Relationship is more important than function
Because every person is valuable to God just as they are, we value people more than what they can do or contribute.
Our relationships with one another are the foundation for effective and motivated team work.

Release potential in every person
Every person should be able to grow in life according to his gifts, his personality and God’s will. This is what we want to focus our efforts upon.

Balance between large and small
Large events and small groups give us, members, as well as visitors, different opportunities to experience God.

Contemporary and relevant to our society
God’s message to us remains. We want to live according to that message and share it in today’s language and expression of our time.

Creativity is worth it
We want to meet people with creative ideas that attract and bring joy to them, as well as make those who are distanced from the church curious about our faith.

It is better to give than to receive
We are blessed to be a blessing. What we have, we want to share generously with others.

All generations
We need the diversity of all generations, a young heart and the wisdom that comes with age.

Willingness to risk
Faith requires courage to experience the new and unknown. You have to leave the harbor to reach new land. Therefore we need a sound mind and a couragous heart.

Enjoy the journey of life
We want to celebrate every day of our lives, not only our destination.

Our Faith

Jesus Gemeinde is a non-denominational Christian church. Our foundation is the Bible as God’s word. Here is what we believe based on that foundation:

  • The Bible is accepted by us as decisive authority in our faith and life.
  • The only true God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit – these are one God: equal in character, power and glory.
  • Jesus Christ was received by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. At the same time, He is true God and true man.
  • God created man in His own image: righteous and without sin. As consequence of Adam’s disobedience, Adam being the first man, all His descendants were born with a sinful nature, which becomes visible through willful transgressions of God’s law and morals.
  • We believe that God did not only create the world but is also maintaining, providing for and reigning over it now. Through His sovereign control, He is steering the world towards the glory of His own great name.
  • Jesus Christ led a life without sin and gave Himself up as a living sacrifice in place of all sinners. Through His sacrificial death on the cross, He established eternal redemption, forgiveness of all sins and eternal life for all believers. On the third day, He rose from the dead.
  • Salvation takes place by grace alone, through faith alone and in Christ alone.
  • This saving grace of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is sanctifying the believer and allowing him or her to live righteously before God.
  • We believe that all gifts of the Holy Spirit, as they are described in the New Testament, can take effect today in order to become a testimony that God’s kingdom has come, and to strengthen and build the church so it can fulfill its calling and mission.
  • Water baptism through immersion and communion are acts initiated by God that the church is to follow until the return of Christ.
  • The church is the most important instrument of God, through which He brings salvation to the world.
  • Jesus Christ will return to the earth, as sovereign King, to judge all people righteously and visibly build His kingdom.
